From their beginnings at Fairs to their brand new homes in the most special room in the modern house – a dedicated movie room – you can now find them everywhere. In this article I talk about four types of popcorn machines, one of which you may have at your place but most of which you would have at least seen or purchased popcorn from.

Cart - these are the machines are where it all started! Wheeling one to a Fair back in the day up to now when you go the local Fair or amusement park. It is always nice to see them. It feels like you are experiencing what your ancestors did when they had a lovely day out. Besides that, they are quite portable and you can make a good business by setting up a cart where many people are milling around and get the smell of popcorn.

Cinema - A very popular place to see popcorn machines is when you go to the movies. Who loves going to see a movie with a big box of fresh, hot popcorn? Everyone I am sure. As soon as you see the big machine full of popcorn and smell that smell you just want some. You can also see these types in shopping malls. There are many stores that have this type, sitting on a table top, ready and hot for you to purchase.

Kitchen - The easiest and smallest of all the machines are the kitchen appliance ones. Sometimes these are special looking, coming in forms of cartoon characters or funky shapes and colors. They can be kept away in the cupboard when you are no longer using them. They are quick and easy to use  and much easier to clean. These would be the cheapest type of all listed here and maybe even the fastest.

Home Theater - The latest and newest use is now for home theaters.
These look very slick and stylish and blend into your room well. They are made to look like all the other cool gadgets and devices you have in the room. Sometimes they can be blended in well because they are built in to a part of the home theater unit. These can be expensive but are really worth it if you have the money.

As you can see here, there are many types and uses for machines that make popcorn. Demand has mean that there are many to choose from and that you will be able to find one that suits your budget and your needs.

Cretors - this is the brand that invented popcorn machines, they were the very first. These guys started making them back between 1890 and 1900. I would imagine that with every new model they made, it was a better one than before. The original does not always mean the best though as many competitors have cropped up. These competitors probably came up with new ideas and improvements to existing machines that the original creators probably never thought of.

Gold Medal - These guys love to rent out their popcorn making machines, they are quite big on this actually. It is probably because they have so many locations and their machines are portable and big enough for fairs and festivals. They have the traditional look and there must be a lot of skill amongst their technical people to be able to service the machines.

Paragon - you will probably get the best range from this brand as they come in many sizes and many colors to suit your tastes. So if you have any special requirements they may be the right brand for you. Their range goes from the traditional popcorn machines to ones that you can have in your home theatre. These are the ones that have to be the most aesthetically pleasing so that they can look good sitting in a room with all that AV equipment. They would have smell reducing things on it also so it does not stink out the room.

Great Western - these are probably the most well known and advertised because I see them everywhere and much more than the other popcorn machine brands. These are more your small kitchen appliance type and so they target the household consumer group. Making compact and quick and easy machines so that anyone can just come into the kitchen and start it up.

We can see here that the different brands available focus on the different needs of their purchasers. Many of these machine manufacturers also make other popcorn products and fun food products too so that you can get a whole range of things.
